
This sculptured stone comes from Reading Abbey. It was carved around 1125 and is a voussoir stone from the arches of the Abbey cloister. It shows a strange head and a smaller head is upside down next to it. It is also decorated with rosettes in beaded rings. The stone itself comes from the quarry at Caen in northern France.
